Edward Snowden Censored Segment: “Had All Info Needed To Detect 9/11 Plot “

Last June, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham said on Fox News that he was “glad” that his data was being collected and analyzed.

“I’m a Verizon customer,” he added. “I don’t mind Verizon turning over records to the government if the government is going to make sure that they try to match up a known terrorist phone with somebody in the United States,” Graham said.

In an unaired clip  of NBC News’ interview with Edward Snowden, he explains that mass surveillance isn’t making us safer and is just taking our rights and privacy away.

“I take the threat of terrorism seriously, and I think we all do. I think it’s really disingenuous for the government to invoke and sort of scandalize our memories to sort of exploit national trauma that we all suffered together and worked so hard to come through to justify programs that have never been shown to keep us safe, but cost us liberties and freedoms that we don’t need to give up and that our Constitution says we should not give up.”

In the allegedly censored clip, Snowden also reveals that the U.S. had all of the intelligence regarding the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 but we unable to connect the dots.

“You know this is a key question that the 9/11 commission considered, and what they found in the postmortem when they looked at all the classified intelligence from all the different intelligence agencies, they found that we had all of the information we needed as an intelligence community, as a classified sector, as the national defense of the United States, to detect this plot,” Snowden said.

“We actually had records of the phone calls from the United States and out. The CIA knew who these guys were. The problem was not that we weren’t collecting information, it wasn’t that we didn’t have enough dots, it wasn’t that we didn’t have a haystack, it was that we did not understand the haystack that we had.”

And all of this haystacking is a problem: “The problem with mass surveillance is that we’re piling more hay on a haystack we don’t understand.  And this is the haystack of the human lives of every American citizen in our country.”

Snowden said that we’re taking money away from successful investigation tactics and investing in these needle-in-a-haystack-type situation.

“If these programs aren’t keeping us safe and they’re making us miss connections, vital connections on information we already have. We’re taking resources away from traditional methods of investigation from law enforcement operations that we know work.

“If we’re missing things like the Boston Marathon bombings where all of these mass-surveillance systems, every domestic dragnet in the world, didn’t reveal guys that the Russian intelligence service told us about by name, is that really the best way to protect our country or are we trying to throw money at a magic solution that’s actually not just costing us our safety, but our rights and our way of life,” Snowden said.

Makes you wonder what else are we missing and why these shocking revelations weren’t included in NBC’s primetime broadcast.

“…why these shocking revelations weren’t included in NBC’s primetime broadcast.”

Because they didn’t want to cut into advertising time?

      How so?

      • drewheck

Snowden could never go into real detail on all he knows. If he did there would most likely be a second American revolution

    • Matthew Moreau

STFU. Snowden is risking his life for YOU! He gave his job of making over 200,000$ and his wife was making 150,000$… he had it made. He gave it up for what was right

  • Reality Check

“The CIA knew who these guys were”

Edward Snowden is light years ahead of the NSA on every level,… The entire NSA should have been fired the minute that first plane hit the tower,… Instead Hayden and many others from the NSA was learning it all from CNN on a six inch TV screen connected to rabbit ears,… Go figure???

  • thetruthnothinmore

We should be careful casting judgement on Snowden. Just because he didn’t come right out and say that 9/11 was an inside job like so many people know to be true does not make him a fraud IMO. The so-called terrorists on the planes were probably known CIA assets. The Department of Defense has been known to use Saudi intelligence assets to carry out mock hijackings for training purposes for years. It wouldn’t have been hard to remotely fly planes full of people into those towers. Everyone on those planes including the Saudi assets would have been victims. Snowden probably just doesn’t have the conclusive evidence to show that 9/11 was an inside job.

  • Pat RIOT

It’s just too real for mainstream news.

  • Crewton Ramone

Tremendously interesting little clip… Watch it again and look at Snowden’s face…lol…he does a great job of keeping a straight face and playing along. U think he believes it was guys with box cutters taking orders from a guy in a cave in Pipelineistan? Or is it Heroin-istan… He knows where he is, and what NOT to say.

if you want to know more about 911 and information the govt had, which was all of it, go to youtube and listen to Susan Lindauer

  • Jay Deuitch

This wasn’t censored. It aired exactly that way in the hour long interview I recorded and watched. I don’t know who Ben Swann is, but I know if he claims this was censored and omitted, then he is a lying d-bag.

    • Alyssa McMorrow

That is a flat-out lie. Everything past 1:06 in this clip is cut out of the “full interview”. Go to nbcnews.com and watch it again. You won’t find it in the “full interview’.

    • Thomas DeSoto

The complete interview was four hours long,… NBC worked on it for four days before they released this small portion on National TV. I’m surprised Edward Snowden didn’t record the entire interview himself and posted the full version on Facebook himself. That would have really brought up his approval ratings even more than 64%, if you can still believe the national news media’s propaganda after this watered down version was released.

  • dusel1

The CIA is only good for living up to its initials -Covert Institute of Assassinations.

  • Abdullah Clifford Qualo

How did Bin Laden’s team shut down the u.s. air force?

    • http://www.villadepaz-gazette.com/ dlmullan

go to youtube and listen to Susan Lindauer…

  • Abdullah Clifford Qualo

I’m not buying this either because he 9Bin Laden) couldn’t have shut down the u.s. air force, could he? So, who did and why aren’t they in jail?

  • Abdullah Clifford Qualo

This guy has to be a double agent. Reminds me of how L. H. Oswald was able to re-enter the U.S. after having been so well received by the U.S.S.R. Unusual, to say the least. How did James Earl Ray manage to evade a worldwide manhunt and make it to Great Britain twice? How does Jean-Bertrand Aristide travel back to and stay in Jamaica for more than two months after being over thrown as Haitian president?
They all work for the same side….

The only real threat to liberty is our American government.

  • americandolt

Obvious delay in playing the Snowden video.

  • iowapam

Snowden has them “peeing down both legs” alright!! These internal terrorists are so scared of the public finding out who they are and what they did to America, I bet they’re in hyperventilation mode most days. Thank you Edward Snowden, our American Hero!

  • Undecider

It’s more than that. The NSA was IN ON the planning of 9-11.

  • Mark

Did anyone actually read the article before jumping to the conclusion that Snowden talked about an “inside job” of 9/11? I understand the the word “plot” and “911″ were used in the title for sensationalism, but I you guys should at least read the article before jumping to conclusions. It was nothing about what you are talking about. American anti-intellectualism ftw!

  • Wayne Van Scoyoc

Lindsay is beyond clueless. The NSA analysts themselves were checking up on boyfriends and girlfriends.

  • Dave Burke

I supported Snowden until it became obvious that he’s a Socialist double agent. Does anyone think it’s a coincidence that after committing treason he immediately sought refuge in Russia, the USA’s traditional enemy and birthplace of Socialism? Nope, that wasn’t coincidence. Now he just walks back into the country as if nothing’s happened, and the MSM is falling over itself to make him look good. Don’t be fooled.

    • Kevin Quinn

You couldnt be any dumber. First off, there has been absolutely no evidence that he gave any “secret” information to Russia or China. Second, anybody who has any ounce of intelligence knows that every country spies like the NSA, so its not like he could give them info that they didnt know already. Third, where else would he be safe? Pretty much every other country would turn him over. This stuff is really not that hard to grasp.

      • Dave Burke

        >>

If you believe that I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. ‘There is no evidence…’ does not mean ‘it never happened.’ Weasel words.

Wait, what? You believe Russia already knows everything there is to know about US intelligence? Seriously? Of course he could give them info they didn’t know already, he was up to his neck in the stuff. That’s why he was able to cut a deal with Russia.Wake up, sheeple!

        >>
Third, where else would he be safe?
        >>

Algeria, Andorra, Bahrain, Brunei, Cameroon, China, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Kuwait, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Morocco, Qatar, Samoa, Saudi ArabiaUnited Arab Emirates, Vanuatu, the Vatican, or Yemen.

None of these countries have extradition treaties with the USA, and he would have been safe in any of them.

        • Tyler

Expecting some sort of evidence before blindly accepting something gets labeled “weasel words” by you? How brilliant.

    • Peter Five-Oh

You have completely missed the point of what Snowden has exposed. The US govt, via the NSA has massively violated the Constitutional rights of ALL Americans by doing searches without warrants. Think 4th Amendment rights. ALL those employees as well as the politicians who voted to allow this collection of data have violated their oaths of office and should all be up on charges of treason. That is the REAL issue that goes unreported by the MSM. And you need to get your story straight about ‘birthplace of socialism.’ A generation ago, the USSR was the birthplace of communism and when that failed, the neo-cons now call it the birthplace of socialism. And you fell for it. And do you know what socialism really is? Here’s a clue, when businesses are about to go belly up, they expect a bailout by the govt. Now, go back to 2008 and think, “which country had banks about to fail and which country bailed out it’s failing banking industry?” and you can figure out which countries are socialist.

    • Imustbjoking

The birthplace of Socialism was not Russia, you have to go back to the French revolution and then the industrial revolution in Great Britain to discover its roots. Chuck in the Germans, a bit more French and English, poor old Karl Marx living and dying in London, a nibble at Frederick Engels then those damned English again before it ends up in Russia and your misinformation sees the light of day.

    • Andy Dent

Treason….. He informed the US public that the government were screwing you all over and you call it treason, i call it hero status, if its true. And Socialism isnt communism. In fact socialism when done without ego, means no-one goes without and things work properly.

  • Andy Dent

so, 9/11 really was bin laden and hijackers and he say’s the boston bombings were also legit, i call bullshit, serious bullshit !! what other stories were in the press at the time, or more accurately not in the press or drowned out. Boston-false flag, 9/11-false flag, and he’s not blowing the whistles on this huh. This stinks.
